The First Annual Lil Monster’s Toy Drive

1 12 2008

The year 2008 has been a roller coaster for me. Personally, i battled with a lot of issues that really took a toll on me. I went through a lot of things in the past calender year. But, one thing affected me so much that I can’t ever look past the experience. This past summer I served as a summer intern for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School. In Freedom School I worked with a lot of children who were forgotten and misguided. I loved those kids. They were such a joy to me that I loved to come home worn out after a long day. I really affected them. Working with them was so great to me that I have decided to reach out and help more children in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area. With Christmas a little more than a month away, I’ve decided to team up with the Zulu Social and Leisure Club here in New Orleans for the first annual Little Monster’s Toy Drive. Every year the Zulu Club holds a Toy Drive for children in the Sixth Ward in New Orleans and right before the Holidays they distribute the toys. This is amazing! During this time of economic hardship it may be even harder for families to give their children gifts but as a community we can come together to make sure every family has a wonderful holiday season! I signed on for this event because I believe I love helping and serving the community no matter where I’m located. My goal for this drive is 10 families. I want to help the Zulu Club help 10 families this year. And, I need ALL of your help and support. I’m calling everyone who reads this note and all of the upcoming press to reach out and help me to provide 10 families with the toys and gifts that they deserve!

How The Drive WIll Work:

I will set up collection boxes at the following universities:

Loyola University
Tulane University
Xavier University
Dillard University
University of New Orleans

If you have slightly used toys that are in good shape please drop them in the donation boxes at these campuses.

~or~

Give all toys to me and I will take care of it!

If you don’t have SLIGHTLY used toys, feel free to purchase new toys for these kids!
(I would prefer you purchase NEW toys. Who wants to open OLD TOYS for XMAS?!?)

Finally,

If you dont want to buy toys, I will be taking donations and I will go out and shop for toys for these children. All donations will be excepted and I’m looking forward to you helping the Lil Monster’s Toy Drive reach it’s goal.

I am looking for ENERGETIC, COMMITTED and DEPENDABLE people to assist me in reaching the community with this drive. I’m looking for people who can go out and canvas for these kids and people to go out and collect toys from drop off points.

THE LIL MONSTER’S TOY DRIVE IS NOT A GAME NOR PUBLICITY STUNT!

I am serious about reaching out into the community and being a positive influence on what people have kicked around and labeled bad for so long. How can we uplift our neighborhoods and children if they have nothing to look up to or be hopeful about. Yes, we have a black president but Barack can’t do it all. Lets be the change we want to see in the world. So I’m calling out to all fraternities, sororities, student organizations, faculty and abled man and woman to pitch in and give 10 FAMILIES gifts for the holidays!

To help the casue:

C-Murder Gets A New Trial

20 11 2008

c-murder3

I love New Orleans.  The time that I’ve spent down here I’ve grown and learned so much.  This city is amazing.  There is no city like it.  They way the city runs is crazy!  So laid back, to say it’s corrupt would be saying an understatement.  But, I do believe that C-Murder is getting a bad wrap and I hope he beats this case.  Real Talk.  I ha d the opportunity to meet C and KLC earlier this year.  Good Dudes.  Hold yo head my nigga.  Beat this bullshit.

New Orleans rapper Corey “C-Murder” Miller’s murder trial has been delayed again after presiding Judge Martha Sassone was defeated in the November 4 runoff for judge in the 24th Judicial District Court.

According to The Times-Picayune, Judge Sassone set a January hearing for Miller, which comes two weeks after her final day as judge in Gretna, where Miller is standing trial for second-degree murder.

Sassone was defeated by Ellen Kovach, who sharply criticized Sassone’s handling of Miller’s case during her bid for a seat on the 24th Judicial Court.

During the elections, jury selection was supposed to have started in Miller’s murder case, but Miller’s lawyer Ron Rakosky sought had the trial delayed.

He argued that Sassone was seeking reelection and that comments made by her rival, Ellen Kovach, would taint potential jurors.

Kovach accused Sassone of sharing birthday cake in court with Miller and claimed that the defendant was “getting away with more than murder” in campaign advertisements.

She was reprimanded by the state Judicial Campaign Oversight Committee for violating ethic rules, due to the possibility that she could end up being the judge presiding over Miller’s case.

Because she defeated Sassone, Kovach has stated that she will not preside over Miller’s case due to her criticism of Sassone during the election.

Now, it could be weeks, or months, before a new judge is selected to preside over Miller’s second murder trial.

Miller, 37, was convicted of shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas inside a now-defunct, Harvey, Louisiana nightclub.

The rapper was convicted of the shooting in 2003, but after a series of hearing, the conviction was overturned.

The decision was upheld by the state’s Supreme Court in 2006, after it was learned that prosecutors expunged the records of three of their witnesses to bolster their credibility.

Miller was freed on a $500,000 bond and was put under monitored house arrest, but was granted limited release, so he could to promote an album and a book to pay for legal fees.

He was ordered back into house arrest on July 1, 2008.

If convicted, Miller faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

My Niggaz The Chopper City Boyz Prepping: Life in the Concrete Jungle!

3 07 2008

I’m glad to see my niggaz gettin it in.  The Chopper City Boyz droppin August 26, 2008!!!!  They support the CINCINNATI MONSTER and the CINCINNATI MONSTER supports them.  Nothing but love for my niggaz!

Rapper BG is paving the way to provide more exposure for his New Orleans-based group, the Chopper City Boyz, with a forthcoming compilation album.

In addition to featuring the former Cash Money Records rapper, the release, titled Life In The Concrete Jungle, will include appearances from the Chopper City Boyz as well as Lady Dolla, C-Murder, Alfamega, Blood Raw, Rocko, Hurricane Chris and Skip.

According to B.G., the timing couldn’t be better for the Chopper City Boyz to make a bigger impression on music fans.

“Everybody knows The Chopper City Boyz in the south because they’ve made appearances on my last four studio albums before releasing their own debut album, We Got This, so people were waiting for something from them,” the former Cash Money Records rapper said. “I decided to sign them to Chopper City Records because they showed me their loyalty as artists and they were willing to put in the hard work that it takes to make it in this industry.”

Although fans are familiar with the group’s musical style, a different side emerges on “Bubble Gum,” the first single from Life in the Concrete Jungle.

“We branded ourselves a whole lot more this time with this compilation and we’re gearing up for our sophomore album,” said Chopper City Boyz member Snipe. “Now that fans are more familiar with our music, I got a lot of people coming up to me and asking when will there be another Chopper City Boyz album, so I know they’re expecting us and we gonna give them some heat to hold onto until our albums drop.”

Life in the Concrete Jungle serves as a sample of the mind state of the Chopper City Boyz as B.G. and Chopper City Records CEO Carol Dorsey revealed that “a more advanced, more mature Chopper City Boyz” will be heard on the 17-track compilation.

“The Chopper City Boyz have stepped up their game since the last album,” B.G. stated. “We got enough banga’s for their second album that we could afford to put a compilation of even more hot tracks for the streets. The streets have spoken! They’re ready for more of Snipe and Gar, so as the head n***a in charge, we gonna give ’em a little taste on how they comin’ for their second album!”

The release of Life in the Concrete Jungle comes amid the group’s new distribution deal through Asylum Records and the imminent release of B.G.’s Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood on Atlantic Records.

Life in the Concrete Jungle is slated to hit stores on Aug. 26.
