What Should Win Rap Album of the Year?

4 12 2008

grammy

The Grammy Nominees were announced yesterday and the most interesting “battle” to me is the rap album of the year.

You got:

Jay-Z American Gangster

Lil Wayne-The Carter III

Lupe Fiasco-The Cool

Nas-Untitled

T.I.-Paper Trail

If I were a Grammy voter, I would use my vote for American Gangster.  But, I wouldn’t be so hard pressed to give my vote for T.I.  Wayne just isn’t getting my vote because even though C3 had some very high points, it’s not cohesive enough as American Gangster or as reflective and soul touching as Paper Trail.  If I had to rank these five albums it would be as follows:

1. American Gangster

2.Paper Trail

3.Untitled

4.The Cool

5. The Carter III

How would you rank them?  I wanna hear this!  Dont be shy!

Lil Wayne Nominated for EIGHT Grammy’s!!!!

4 12 2008

lil_wayne_041808

Call me late for not being up on this.  I’ve been dumb sick as of late and overworked from working on the Lil Monster’s Toy Drive.  However, I peeped on HIPHOPDX with my sick ass and saw that Wayne leads all nominations with EIGHT freaking Grammy nods.  Wow, I mean who is a more deserving artist?  The man is on the radio every 5.7 seconds with one of his songs or one that he is featured on.  It’s just that impressive.  Whether or not he’s falling off (which I think he is) it’s still a great accomplishment for Hip-Hop.  I say he wins 4-5 Grammy’s easy.  But, just wow!  This nigga got nominated for 8 GRAMMY’S!!!

Lil Wayne’s Daughter is NOT Dead!!!!

12 08 2008

Shout out to everyone who worked Freedom School 08 with me.  I had the chance of meeting Wayne’s daughter at our Summer Program. She was nieces of one of the counselors that worked there.  And, believe you and me that girl is NOT 8 years old.  She walked around the camp asking for asprin!!!! What 8 year old girl asks for asprin lol?!?!? But, she was a sweetheart.  Never brought up who her daddy was, just was a little girl GROWN AS THE FUCK!  But, yo seriously I started to get calls like Shift, Wayne’s daughter died.  My manager even called me.  No WAYNE’S DAUGHTER IS NOT DEAD.  BTW, who would make up a rumor like that?  That’s corny.  Leave people’s kids out of it.  Especially on a weekend where we lost two legends.  C’mom grow up!!!  But Wayne issued a statement on the matter check it out:

“It has come to my attention that there are recent reports circulating regarding my daughter. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who are genuinely concerned about Reginae and her safety. Please allow me to dispel any rumors or speculations and report that my daughter is alive, healthy and surrounded by family who care and love her dearly. The rumors are completely false and unfounded; neither Reginae nor any other member of my family has been involved in any car accident. My family and I truly appreciate the concern and support shown to us.”

Damn, Grow Up Ppl!

Lollipop 2.0 Tearing Amazon Limb from Limb!

1 07 2008

Back on Father’s Day I released a track for FREE on THE CINCINNATI MONSTER.COM  for all the people who were supporting my website.  I was at 2,000 hits then.  Now, I’m pushing close to 5,000.  The track I released was “Lollipop 2.0”  the remix I made for Lollipop with a teaser of Oba Rowland’s new single DADDY in there, plus the verse from Kanye and the new one from Wayne.  i released it to Amazon.  And, it has become one of my most populare tracks on the digital retailer.  Out of all the tracks currently being sold on Amazon.com Lollipop 2.0 is currently, 4,194.  Pretty damn good considering the fact that Amazon is the #2 digital retailer behind Itunes.  It’s the fastest growing digital medium out there.  If you don’t have it download it from the FREE DOWNLOADS SECTION!!!!!!

Funkmaster Flex Airs Out Buck, and Everyone Else…

1 07 2008

I actually feel what Flex is saying here.  Especially when he got into the whole thing about rappers writing for other rappers.  He said rappers who write for other rappers should shut up and stop trying to air out the people who they write for because its a reason why you aren’t on that record.  Yea, true plus you are playing your part.  And, you knew what you signed up for when you got in the game. This ain’t checkersor Twister we’re playing.  Personally, I think no aspiring artist should NEVER sign to another artist’s record label.  Because you will NEVER be the priority, no matter how talented you are.  There’s only one reasonable exception, Kanye West and even he has to go sit in a corner when Jay-Z comes out.  Signing to other artist’s record labels is ALWAYS a bad idea.  In Buck’s case I’m with Flex on this one.  Don’t be shouting out G-Unit every which way and forth, claiming to be bout ready to “ride” on Sloppy Joe and Game then when you get pissed say fuck em!  Thats not hot and it pisses the fan off (me)!!!!!  Ehh, here’s the news! (hiphopdx)

On air recently, iconic deejay and radio personality Funkmaster Flex gave a rare controversial siding with 50 Cent in G-Unit‘s recent conflict with Young Buck.

The Hot 97 mainstay said, “Unfortunately, I can’t move with Young Buck because I’m on that thing on loyalty, man.” He added, “A lot of you rappers, man, you get onto a label that’s smokin’ hot, and the guy at the helm is hot, man, pushin’ out units! And you want to come along and live because you know if you just stay at home, drink your hot chocolate and watch Rap City, you’re guaranteed to go gold without leaving your block.

The deejay expressed further skepticism to a class of newer artists, “And I watch y’all sell gold, when you should have sold 100,000 [units, and] start talkin’ slick. I’m not just talkin’ about [the Young Buck] situation, I’m sayin’ y’all do it all the time. Let me tell you something: it’s corny; that’s a small man’s world. You know what you show when you do that? That you was never nothin’, and you was never ridin’, and you was never on the team, ever!

Flex blanketed this statement in regards to artists underneath Jay-Z,DiddyDr. DreEminemJermaine DupriTimbalandFat Joe and Lil Wayne. Speaking to these moguls, he pleaded, “Y’all need to stop handing out these free meals to snausages [sic].

Speaking from experience, the deejay who has released several gold albums, added that he’s “very careful” about mentoring other deejays, and added that he was the biggest in the world. Flex attributed this to the legendary Chuck Chillout, a deejay who he considered to be a mentor.

The interview also alluded to Flex‘s displeasure with Gillie Da Kid‘s problems with Lil Wayne.

Further in the interview, focusing on the highly-publicized phone conversation withYoung Buck crying to 50 CentFlex commented, “He’s a good dude, and I know what happened.” He added, “Your son can never get older than you,” analogizing that whoever a rapper signs is inherently their son. “On Father’s Day, buy a gift.

On his 2005 Car Show album, Funkmaster Flex featured the song “Just A Touch” which featured 50 Cent.

DJ Khaled Readies We Global!

26 06 2008

I can’t hate on Khaled.  He’s the ring leader of a new movement and he doesn’t do anything but holler on songs.  He does alot of things behind closed doors and he’s today’s music executive.  He’s everywhere, he has his hands on the best music and great relationships with today’s hottest artists.  He has a label deal with Koch and now Def Jam for his label the We The Best Music Group.  He has a new artist, Ace Hood who isn’t that bad.  He’s moving in the right direction.  I like Khaled.  I like what he’s doing.  He’s becoming a force on his own, I can’t knock the man’s hustle nor his passion for the game, I’m takin’ notes.  So here’s the news.
